The Leadership Development Program is a new initiative of the Society and this is the first year of operation. A number of aspects are still under development.
A workshop will be held in Sydney on 19 October 2017 for both participants and leaders.
The program is being offered to NBPSA members with the primary purpose of supporting succession planning for key leadership positions within NBPSA.
Participants are offered opportunities to participate in NBPSA organisational activities associated with the leadership and governance of the organisation. In doing so, participants will work alongside, and be supported by the current NBPSA leadership group.
The program is designed to build experience and perspectives on different leadership styles and approaches and an appreciation of the different technical and operational aspects of running a membership organisation. Opportunities may also be available to gain experience in how the broader systems of health, education, disability, clinical practice and training connect to neurodevelopmental and behavioural paediatrics.
Participants are will be involved in financial, planning and governance activities and specific projects underway in areas such as strategy and policy development, education and conference planning as well as the opportunity to attend and participate in discussions at Board meetings (topics involving confidential information of members will not be included in the program).
An individual plan will be developed with each participant to allow, as far as possible, each participant’s interests, career goals and experience to be aligned with the current activities and priorities of the NBPSA.
The program is based on a mutual benefit approach where senior NBPSA leaders agree to share their skills, experience and insights while participants agree to contribute their time and energy to undertake specific NBPSA management and leadership activities in a supervised and supported environment.
Numbers are limited, particularly in the first year as we develop the program and organise the resources needed to deliver mutual benefits for participants and the organisation. If you would like to find out more, please contact Jane or Greg.
